Finding Inspiration in everyday natural ephemera

My practice

The natural world is forever in movement, and I try to continually evolve my practice in order to explore and discover the unnoticed within it. Whether this is creating screenprints that highlight and immortalise small lumps of glacier ice, waiting to melt on the beach in Iceland, or filming

chaotic shadow movement in a forest closer to home, my aim is to show off the ordinary, in all its natural wonder and complexity.

I do this by using whichever method is at hand, and I comfortably move between, drawing, painting, screenprinting, video and installation.

'Absorbing Time', an exhibition at Art@47 with Patricia Bray. The exhibition focused on works on paper and the words 'Life is as fragile as paper'. It included Taku-hon print installations as well as wind painting and poignant use of winged samara seeds. Much of this site specific work was related to loss.

A still from 'Walk The Flesh Transparent' video work. The blanket, or makeshift 'landscape' was made from the down of the Creeping Thistle plant over a period of 3 growing seasons. People were invited to walk over and on the 'landscape', each deciding how to treat it. The more robust and careless people were, the more the 'landscape' visibly shed its down hence slowly ruining it.
